Dive The Sunken King Cruiser Wreck

MS King Cruiser was a car and passenger ferry running the route between Phuket and Koh Phi Phi it sunk in the Andaman sea on the 4th May 1997. The boat was in operation from Phuket heading to Phi Phi where it struck a submerged collection of rocky pinnacles at Anemone Reef around 10 miles out from Phi Phi island, the impact ripped a large hole into the hull of the vessel and the ship was completley submerged within two and a half hours. There where 561 passengers and crew on board mixed between foreign tourists and local Thai people, all passengers and crew on board survived being picked up by two police boats and local fishing boats in the area. The vessel is now a recreational dive site and is acting as an artificial reef, the ship sits upright on the sandy sea-bed sitting at approximately thirty meters deep. The wreck is remaning in one piece although the upper deck has collapsed the safest entry point is through the stern of the vessel where divers can explore and can see rows of passenger seats, table and machinery.
