Top #16 Things To Do In Koh Phi Phi
#1 Stroll through the local market
If you want to get a good glimpse at what life is like in Phi Phi for the local people, you have to swing by the local market. Located in Tonsai Village, you can expect to find an abundance of local produces including vegetables, fruits, and seafood(Often locally caught and fresh), at very modest prices. It is open daily. Make sure you hungry when you visit!
#2 Scub Dive in the sunken King Cruiser wreck
One of the most outstanding scuba diving sites on Koh Phi Phi is the King Cruiser wreck. The passenger ship sunk in the late 90's when it collided with an Anemone reef. This site is now packed full of fish including clown fish, tuna and barracuda, not to mention the sea anemones that cling to every surface of the reef. Keep an eye out for the occasional black tip reef, and leopard sharks.

#3 Snorkel and visit Maya Bay
Made famous for its starring role in the Leonardo DiCaprio film, "The Beach", Maya Bay is on Koh Phi Leh and is included with the majority of our island/snorkeling tours. For those who want to see the place without the place full of boats and people, you can spend a night on the island. It’s a far better way to experience the seclusion of this place. The beach is stunning, with 100 metre-high cliffs on three sides of the beach.
#4 See the fire-shows and enjoy the nightlife
Nightlife here is crazy. Fireshows, tourist Thai boxing matches and games of beer pong are a daily occurrence at the beach bars, to list a few of our favorites; Slinky's beach bar and Stones beach bar have a daily fire show starting at 9pm and of course there are always cheap Thai buckets on sale. During Koh Phi Phi's high season there are always massive beach parties. For live music, make your way to the wonderfully named 'Klong Siam, Live Music Bar'. Or for a more chilled out vibe head over to Banana Bar where they show a movie on the cinema screens starting at 7pm every evening. Partying here is fairly cheap and Thai buckets can be purchased from street vendors at a fraction of the bars prices!
#5 Visit the secluded Bamboo Island
For a more secluded alternative to Maya Bay, consider a trip to the uninhabited Bamboo Island. The island lies 8 miles north from Koh Phi Phi Don and is home to the coral garden Hin Klang. The Island is part of a National Marine Park so you’ll have to pay the 400 THB entrance fee (Our Speedboat tours include this fee in the price), No matter what, it’s worth it for the secluded snorkeling, sunbathing and exploring you can do here.
#6 Take a tour to the 'Monkey Beach'
Almost all of our island tours include a stop on the monkey beach locally named Saam-Haad which literally means three beaches. Monkey Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, not just Koh Phi Phi. The Powder white sands and excellent views makes this a popular spot but one of the coolest things about it is the monkeys that come down to the beach. They’re pretty tame and you can feed them!(Be careful if you bring food or drink onto the beach the monkeys will do everything they can to take it from you!)
#7 Take a hike to Phi Phi's Viewpoint
The thirty minute walk up to the Viewpoint will be rewarded by an amazing panoramic view of Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don. The Viewpoint is over 600 feet high, so you’ll need to be reasonably fit to get here. The hike can be a strenuous one, with hundreds of steps and twisty paths, but your camera will thank you! The best time to go is at sunset or sunrise. You can head straight from here over the hill to the eastern beaches.
#8 Eat in Tonsai Village
Tonsai village on Koh Phi Phi Don has a large variety of restaurants and street foods a meal here can range from as little as 60 THB for a local dish or up to 500 THB for the imported meats. There are street vendors scattered all over the island one of our favorites being 'Hello My Mom' it is a locally owned street vendor with all chicken or vegetable dishes being 60 THB or less (a little extra for seafood). Breakers restaurant and pub is in the centre of town, across from the 7-11. Breakers has large screen t.v's for the latest sporting events as well as a huge selection of fantastic menu items and drinks it is also the only place on the island to offer draught beers. Another of our favorites is Unni's restaurant offering a wide selection of imported meats from Australia and from Europe this is probably one of the most expensive places to eat on the island but its not going to break the budget, as the food is imported it is a lot better quality than can be offered elsewhere. In short you get what you pay for.
#9 Learn to cook traditonal Thai dishes
If you are looking to pick up a new skill why not try your hand at some Thai cooking tricks, take a class at Pum’s Thai Cooking School. Located on Tonsai Village, you can take classes ranging from 30 minutes to 6+ hours. Why not get a souvenir you can take back with you, and bring back the knowledge of how to make some of your favorite dishes from Thailand! Classes start at 500 THB.
#10 Check out a Thai boxing match
The Reggae Bar offers Thai boxing nightly 'Muay Thai'. You can get big buckets of booze, and if you are in the mood you can even get out in the ring yourself and scrap with other tourists or even a local! Winners receive free buckets and a medal for their efforts! Some local matches are occasionally scheduled, and if you are lucky, you’ll find some high stakes fights with professionals brought in. The bar also has large screen TVs that show a range of sports, and one of the only bars to offer a pool table.
#11 Take a deep sea fishing tour
One of the more exclusive activities you can do off the coast of Koh Phi Phi on the Andaman sea is deep sea fishing. You can book online for a private fishing trip it is more pricey than your standard longtail tour but for that you’ll get the chance to fish for tuna, barracuda, dorado, king mackerel and sailfish. For an added twist, night fishing is a great way to experience the nocturnal life of the waters surrounding the islands.
#12 Try out some rock climbing
With the rugged landscape and steep cliffs, Koh Phi Phi is the ideal destination to climb. You can arrange a tour that will take you by boat to one of the islands’ limestone rock faces that is suitable for climbing. The views you’ll get from the top of the rock face will be absolutely unforgettable Tonsai Tower is a rock climbers paradise. Rock climbing is limited on Koh Phi Phi and is operated only by one company 'Phi Phi Climbers' who accept online reservations through their agent 'Phi Phi Travel and Tours'.
#13 Hop on board a boat party
While there is nightlife aplenty, if you are looking at getting out on the water while enjoying some cool beer, We offer a fun way to see some of the most beautiful spots in the Phi Phi islands. It departs daily from our office, and includes lunch, snacks, and (in addition to booze and music!) snorkeling equipment. Prices start at as little as 1600 THB.
#14 Watch a stunning sunset on the Andaman sea
The sunset on Koh Phi Phi is like no other, the sun sets at around 18:30pm and for the best views we recommend heading over to 'Long Beach' it is from here you get clear views of Phi Phi Leh island and its by far one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches on the island. It can be reached by foot and is approximately a thirty minute walk from Tonsai village, alternatively you can take a Taxi boat to reach there and to bring you back to Tonsai village. Please contact us and we can arrange a taxi boat to collect you from you hotel to take you to see the beach.
#15 Rent a Kayak from the beach
You can rent sea kayaks from Loh Dalam Bay also known locally as the party beach. Head out on ocean kayaks to Wang Long bay, Monkey Beach or even over to Phi Phi Leh island if your not feeling too tired prices start at around 500 THB for three hours although you can normally haggle a good deal. You can even rent them just before the sunset after all nothing beats getting to see the sunset from the water especially when it is as beautiful as is the Andaman Sea.
#16 Check out a pool party
Phi Phi island well known for nightlife and partying, well why not join the party in the day time as well, two resorts host pool parties regularly Ibiza pool and hotel host a party every sunday and thursday, whilst Princess hotel and pool host a party every monday. Both featuring live DJ's and bars with happy hours! there is three a week so whenever you visit you cant miss them.
